Scholarships
Since 2006, the ALA Girls State Alumnae Foundation has been proud to offer scholarships to two lucky recipients on-site at ALA California Girls State. In 2018, GSAF launched two new scholarships in the amount of $1000 each, one for college and one for graduate school.
GSAF Board and Committee Members are not eligible for the GSAF Scholarships. To apply for the scholarships, you must be currently enrolled and able to provide a student ID and bursar's address for scholarship distribution.

Victoria Dang
2019 College Scholarship Recipient
Victoria Dang is a first-generation student at University of the Pacific studying Political Science with a minor in Pre-Law and Public Policy. After graduating, she hopes to go to Law school and concentrate on Immigration law.

Sara Tsai
2019 College Scholarship Recipient
Sara is a recent graduate of UC Berkeley. She majored in business administration and interdisciplinary studies and minored in food systems. At Cal, she is actively involved in the food justice ecosystem and leads programming to alleviate student basic needs insecurity. Her projects have focused on the holistic nature of basic needs and its intersections with sustainability, mental health, and identity. In the past few summers, she has served low-income litigants at the Hayward Hall of Justice, conducted research at the California Research Bureau, and studied public policy at Princeton University's Junior Summer Institute as a PPIA Fellow. She will be pursuing her J.D. at Berkeley with the goal of becoming a civil rights attorney focusing on labor law.

Brionna Martinez

Brionna is a first year and first-generation student at University of California, Irvine studying criminology, law and society (and intends to double major in history). Upon graduating, Brionna plans to attend law school and, subsequently, take a part in prison reform through legislation.

Natalie Hernandez

Natalie is a graduate student in a Masters of Arts and English program at California State University, Bakersfield. Upon graduating, Natalie intends to pursue a PhD, studying feminist literary criticism, writing young adult literature, and becoming a Professor of Literature. She graduated from UCLA in June 2018 with a BA in English.
